Chikaldara (Maharastra) School of Leadership

Young energetic leaders from various parts of Maharastra gathered on 7th July at Municipal Community Hall, Chikaldara for school of leadership.  Pastor Sanjay Diwe, India Friends Fellowship organized this event with the burden of training leaders by praying for past two years.
The eager leaders took detailed notes on each session.  Sanjay Diwe commented: “In most of seminars we take empty note pads, this time we had to get more for several participants.”  One young woman leader said, “I was able to understand my identity, call, vision and goal of ministry.”  Many echoed similar views.  “I learned to study bible with principles of biblical interpretation,” said one pastor and many delegates committed to study bible with this tool and develop their ministry to be more relevant.

“The exercise of Life Map helped me to handle my difficult past, forget, have positive attitude and move forward,” said one woman leader.

Writers’ Vision Workshop 2009: A Report: Twenty two aspiring writers gathered on 20th June with great enthusiasm at Women’s’ Centre, Gurukul.  
 
They were from various organizations and churches including: Campus Crusade for Christ, Caruna Bal vikas, Friends Missionary Prayer Band, teachers, lecturers and Pastors.

Reinterpreting Article 377?

Media excitement saw no bounds as the High Court judgment decriminalizes consensual homosexual relationships.  Homosexuality is the manifestation of sexual desire toward a member of one's own sex or the erotic activity with a member of the same sex. (The Greek word homos means the same). A lesbian is a female homosexual. More recently the term "gay" has come into popular use to refer to both sexes who are homosexuals.  The word ‘gay’ that had good meaning has become corrupted with this application.  With the Delhi High Court judgment; Two consenting adults of same sex, from now on, can have private sex without any fear of legal harassment.  Many so called celebrities said that this was overdue and right step in the direction of progress (!).

National Rural Health Mission – Needed a paradigm shift

The health ministry under Ghulab Nabi Azad has proposed to give financial incentives to lure doctors to work in rural, tribal and hilly areas. Sometimes, the doctors serving in such areas would get double salary. Providing monetary benefits is the only way to enhance the health needs in India?
 
National Rural Health Mission initiated in 2005 has made some progress. But, there is a need for paradigm shift in the thinking and execution of the Mission. There seems to piece meal approach to the whole issue, instead of integrated approach. There is lack of co-ordination between various agencies also.
